The O’Rourke Fig is one of the newer varieties released by the Louisiana State University (LSU) fig breeding program, named after Dr. Ed O’Rourke, who led much of LSU’s fig research. It was developed to thrive in the hot, humid South while still producing excellent fruit.
General Profile
Skin: Brown to purplish-bronze.
Flesh: Amber to light pink, very sweet and rich.
Flavor: Similar in sweetness to Celeste but with a slightly more complex taste.
Size: Medium-sized fruit, elongated pear-shape (more elongated than Celeste).
