The Tena Fig is a less widely known but notable variety, prized for large, sweet fruit and cold-hardiness. It is often grown by fig enthusiasts in the northern U.S. and Europe.

  • Skin: Light green to yellow when ripe.

  • Flesh: Amber to light pink, juicy and sweet.

  • Flavor: Mildly sweet with honey-like undertones; less intense than Italian Honey but richer than Celeste.

  • Size: Medium to large fruit; typically larger than Celeste but smaller than Olympian.

 

Growth Habits

  • Tree Size: Moderate; usually 10–12 feet if unpruned.

  • Hardiness: USDA Zones 7–9; some reports of survival in Zone 6 with protection.
